This quilt was created as a way to document a dream France vacation, that included a workshop with quilt artist Heidi Parkes and Textile Tours of Paris with Rebecca Devaney. Each appliqué and embroidery represents a memory of the trip: the places we visited (e.g., Chateau Dumas, Saint-Cecile Cathedral in Albi, Versaille, Paris Opera House, Moulin Rouge, flea markets and haberdasheries), the endless quest for French chocolates, the adventures and misadventures of the trip, the skills we learned in various workshops, the textiles treasures we discovered, and the dear friendships made. Besides being a bucket-list getaway, this trip was significant as it marked the beginning of my quiltmaking and artistic journey.
